ARTIST STATEMENT

Laura Rose Moran-Morris is a London-based artist who loves to play. Her practice spans painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, installation, textiles, costume, and performance. Using play as a methodology, she explores the power of imagination and abstraction as an escape from reality. Her work often invites audience participation to reshape how art is experienced.

She is fascinated by the evocative power of colour and works intuitively across media to create vibrant, semi-abstracted pieces. Her work draws inspiration from queer ecology and the organic patterns found in flora and fauna. Through the texture and malleability of textiles, she creates soft sculptures and garments that can be worn, suspended, twisted and reformed. These become families of creatures that inhabit their own imagined worlds. Laura Rose adopts an embodied approach and explores how movement and energy can be captured through drawing and collage—sometimes stepping into her own colourful worlds to perform within them.

Social engagement is central to her practice, whether through teaching, leading workshops, or creating art that invites activation. Laura Rose balances work as an artist, specialist costume technician, tutor, workshop facilitator and costume designer and maker.
